If you have any questions on your wedding flowers please see our FAQs below or contact Dolores.

When do I need to book a florist?
Many florists book up early during peak times (summer months), so it is advisable to try and give at least six months notice. Also Valentines, Christmas and Mothers Day are busy times for a florist. It is worth noting that flower prices will also increase during these occasions.

Do you charge a consultation fee?
No. Dolores is happy to meet with you, discuss ideas and send you a written quotation. There is no charge or obligation for this service.

I am a bride from the USA getting married in Ireland. Can you work with me remotely?
Absolutely. Kinvara Flowers has experience working with many brides who are living abroad and aims to make it as easy for you as possible. Just send Dolores an email and we can go from there.

Who wears a buttonhole and a corsage at a wedding?
Usually it is the groom, best man, groomsmen, pageboy(s), mother and father of the bride and mother and father of the groom. Quite often, the gesture includes grandparents and in some cases it is extended to the immediate family.

Which side do you wear a buttonhole?
A buttonhole is traditionally worn on your left hand side - over the heart :)

My fiancée suffers from hay fever. Are there any flowers that won’t aggravate him?
Flowers that are insect-pollinated and have heavy, sticky pollen versus wind-pollinated flowers tend to cause a lot less aggravation for hay fever. Some possibilities would include: anthruium, calla lilly, hydrangea, iris, orchid (phalaenopsis or cymbidium), veronica, viburnum or eyrngium.

I don’t want to throw my bouquet as tradition dictates. Is there any alternative?
Most florists will be happy to make you an extra bouquet specifically for throwing. Throw bouquets are usually smaller and comprise of less expensive flowers than your actual bouquet - so you won’t mind throwing it away as much!

How can I make my flowers stand out in black and white photographs?
Flowers with deep, three dimensional shapes such as roses are beautiful in black and white. It would also be best to avoid an all white bouquet as it will be hard to make out - even using shades of cream would be better to stand out against a white dress.

Do you have to leave your flowers at the ceremony site?
It is common for flowers to be left at the ceremony site, but not necessary. Each venue is different and some locations require that you remove them directly after the ceremony. If moving them is an option it is a good way to save money by reusing arrangements at your reception site. Kinvara Flowers is happy to make these enquires on your behalf and facilitate moving the flowers if you require.
